It took me a few days to write this blog about Mars Retrograde. Health, work, relationships - everything conspired to slow me down. How fitting for the beginning of Mars Retrograde...
In my chart, this Retrograde is passing through the 7th house of commitment and partnerships. While my current relationship isn't yet put to the test, I can sense how all the commitments I have made have started slowing down. So, I decided to follow Mars Retrograde instead of resisting. I will also take it slow, reassess my priorities, and take smaller bites until the 23rd of February.
Every retrograde cycle brings self-awareness about the patterns of our operations. Mars' question is: "How do you fight?" Carefully? Aggressively? Covertly? If you don't know, you will find out soon. The answers usually aren't straightforward, they come through thanks to the motions created by our efforts and actions. Mars' motto is "never give up," and now, that will become clearer than ever. Themes of Mars Retrograde
We are all different, and the themes of Mars Retrograde will come up in different areas of our lives. The house of Leo is most important right now (using the whole sign system), and after that, we need to look at natal Mars placement, the lord of Mars, and the relation of Mars' lord to the lord of the chart. But for now, let's just focus on the house that begins in Leo! Here are some of the lessons and methods through which they come forth:
- 1st house - frustration with yourself, the assertiveness is under revision
- 2nd house - fight for your right to control your resources
- 3rd house - your temper is short; great time to notice your triggers
- 4th house - conflicts at home can result in a different living situation
- 5th house - creative force worth expressing
- 6th house - use this time to strengthen your body
- 7th house - your relationships are the cause of frustration, realize what is in your control and accept what isn't
- 8th house - feelings of rejection can lead you to pursue the things (and people) you truly need
- 9th house - expand your horizons and don't look back
- 10th house - frustration around not advancing fast enough, learn patience during this time
- 11th house - you might feel underappreciated, this will strengthen your resolve
- 12th house - you will learn how to be a protagonist in your own life
My topics are those of the 7th house. I can expect a lot of frustration in relationships, and indeed, soon I will go long distance with my partner as we are both moving countries. However, I can also expect growth and transformation. I will see what patterns of action work for me and which don't. I expect I will want to end the relationship many times, but during Mars Retrograde that would be a mistake. Things might seem complicated now, but this period is marked by the download of information, not decisive action. Mars isn't characterized by patience, patience is its opposite value. As Mars is going backward now, we should collectively let it get further from us, and become more patient.
