Mercury in Sagittarius sounds like a position from heaven. The planet of intellect infused with the wisdom and the open mind of Sagittarius, what is there not to like? However, the reality is a bit more complicated. Essentially, Mercury and Sagittarius have a completely different approach to knowledge. Where Mercury is involved in facts and details, Sagittarius only cares about big ideas and truths. For example, Sagittarius will be concerned with questions like: "What is the best political system?", "Strategy in chess?", "Moral philosophy?", "Truth in religion?", and so on. These are all very important topics, but they easily overwhelm Mercury who likes Excel sheets more than an empty sheet of paper.
When Mercury enters Sagittarius we can expect all the same themes to activate. In short, we will be focusing on big ideas and our minds will be attracted to "theorizing." This can mean we are stuck in our thoughts instead of putting in the work. However, the good side is we can come up with some pretty good systems and strategies.
Use this time to let your ideas soar, but also find ways to ground them. Balance your ideals with real, concrete steps, and remember: eventually your dreams will need your actions to take shape in the world.
